Mid Cheshire Group celebrates success at RDA Virtual National Championships 2022

Many congratulations to Mid Cheshire RDA Group who received fantastic results for their three entries to the Virtual National Championships. The Championships were held on 29 and 30 October and were watched by thousands of viewers, across the two days, on YouTube and Facebook. Viewers saw 56 classes including dressage, carriage driving, showjumping, endurance, showing, musical ride & drive, vaulting and the countryside challenge. For those who haven’t come across countryside challenge before, this involves riding a course including different elements that the rider has to navigate carefully, with different challenges at each (such as posting a letter or opening a gate).

Mid Cheshire Group had three entries in Class 85 Countryside Challenge (led or one side walker). The results are:

Junior Section

3rd Verity Jones (Father Ted) 83.57%

4th Dylan Stratford (Father Ted) 77.85%

Senior Section

3rd Nicola Holmes (Paddy) 81.78%

The Virtual National Championships have been very popular across the UK and it was announced by RDA Chair of Trustees, Rachel Medill MBE, during the live stream. “This is now a standing fixture in our calendar as it offers everyone the opportunity to participate in an RDA championship on their regular horse in familiar surroundings. I recognise the huge amount of time, passion and hope that goes in to preparing for every one of those entries - competitors, helpers and horses all play a crucial part and it is that level of effort that makes for a competition with real heart”.

We hope that Mid Cheshire Group’s success will inspire other groups, from across the North West Region, to enter the event next year.
