The Anchor weighs in for Fundraiser

Patrons at the Anchor Inn at Salterforth, dipped into their pockets for the Pendle Group Riding for the Disabled Association Fund Raising Evening, on Sunday.

Starting with a team quiz, then a round of "Play your cards right", culminating in the landlord of the Anchor Inn, Peter Loftus, bravely undergoing a chest waxing, in which he sold strips of waxing tape to eager punters!

The night was a total success raising £326, with many regulars attending as well as members of the Pendle Riding For The Disabled Group.

Pendle Group spokesperson, Kate Bailey, said “We are so grateful to Peter and his team at the `Anchor Inn` for being such good sports for raising all this money for the Pendle RDA group”.

Set up in February 1977, Pendle Riding for the Disabled is one of the oldest such groups in the country.

They provide a range of riding opportunities for adults and children living in the area who have a variety of disabilities. It has built up a membership that comes from a 20 mile radius of 144 riders and is currently based in Barnoldswick.
